This, the first of Gerard’s recent sculptures, builds on a well loved theme within his painting.
‘The saltire’ our national flag has become synonymous with Gerards art work over the past two decades, principally as a consequence of paintings such as ‘The Rowan’ and ‘A New Journey’. It seemed like an obvious progression to take the theme into three dimensions and to see how it would work as a stand-alone sculpture.
Cast in bronze in a limited edition of 25, the sculpture is supplied with a certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by the artist.
